This Lenten Season, the Balinese Christian Art Association (BCAA) brings: "Via Dolorosa", a painting exhibition by Ni Ketut Ayu Sri Wardani. It will open on April 27 at Jakarta. The paintings will be on display until May 5. This event is part of the BCAA's painting exhibition series: Sharing God's word Through the Arts.

The artist, Ni Ketut Ayu Sri Wardani , is a member of the Asian Christian Arts Association (ACAA) and the chairperson of the BCAA. She sees her art as a means to express her inner feelings. The artistic process continually molds ideas to make them more meaningful to the viewer. It is through these artworks that she hopes to move other people. "Through art, past experiences live on with the potential of impacting the future."

The exhibit title: Via Dolorosa ("Path of Suffering") refers to the path taken by Jesus before He was crucified. Sri Wardani has always been moved by suffering that is ever-present in life. This reminds her of Jesus' agony when He went through the cross. "No one else has ever suffered as He suffered. The cause of His suffering was never His imperfection. It was our own. It was this idea that underlies the theme of my work, "Via Dolorosa" meaning the path of suffering."

These set of works derive inspiration from Romans 5: 3-5
"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." (NIV)
