Soichi Watanabe

"Look at the Birds on the Air" by Soichi Watanabe
Soichi Watanabe began his painting career on 1982 after graduating from the Ochanomizu Art School. One of his concerns is how to make Christian art in the contemporary Japanese setting. His works are characterized by geometric forms and “face-less” figures, inviting the viewers to see themselves in the painting.

Soichi Watanabe is a long-time member of the ACAA. He was also a member of the Japan Christian Arts Association (JCAA). In 2008, Soichi was invited to participate in the Overseas Ministries Studies Center’s art residency program. During his residency he was able to put up exhibitions and publish his own book: “For the Least of These”.
